Eleanor Yow Shirley, age 93, of Northport, Ala., passed away May 21, 2018 at Glen Haven Nursing Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Memory Chapel with Ken Cheek officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ellis Shirley; brothers, Esten, Elvin and Emerson; sisters, Elsie and Martha. Survivors include her sons, Charles B. Shirley (Glenda) and Larry F. Shirley (Becky); sister, Clara Herrington; and grandchildren, Laney Shirley, Joe Shirley, Andy Shirley and Katy Shirley. Eleanor was a charter member of Northridge Baptist Church and served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher for 60 years. She was a woman of faith who loved her family and all those who came in contact were touched by her kindness. Pallbearers will be Joe Shirley, Laney Shirley, Andy Shirley, Shawn Callahan, Blason Shirley and Joe Gurganus. Honorary pallbearers are members of Northridge Baptist Church and the staff of Martinview and Glen Haven Rehab. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northridge Baptist Church in Northport, Ala.
