Esten Eli Yow, 88, died Friday, December 21, 2001, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. today at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street and 10 a.m. Monday at Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton. Services are 1 1 a.m. Monday at the church with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Yow was a native of Pine Hill, Ala., and a resident of Jackson for over 60 years. He was a longtime member of Parkway Baptist Church, where he was active in the Heavenly Sunlight Singers. He attended High Pointe Baptist Church in Raymond. He loved his family, church, and music.
He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and had extended tours of foreign duty. Mr. Yow was a retired electrician with Vickers, where he was employed for 13 years. He also was active in Youth activities as a Boy Scout Leader and youth Sunday School teacher at Parkway Baptist Church.
Mr. Yow is survived by his wife of 59 years: Margaret W. Yow of Raymond; daughters, Ella & her husband, Jimmie Keen of Jackson, Cathy and her husband, Tommy Lofton of Raymond, Christina and her husband, Jay Parker of Brandon; two sons, Bert Yow and his wife, Susan of Lorena, Texas, John Yow and his wife, Donna of Brandon; seven grandchildren, David Lofton & his wife, Jennifer of Raymond, Matt Yow of Lorena, Texas, Eric Yow of Lorena, Texas, Lauren Yow of Lorena, Texas, Jordan Yow of Brandon, Kaitlyn Yow of Brandon, Nathan Yow of Brandon; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Lofton of Raymond, Alli Lofton of Raymond; two sisters, Eleanor Shirley of Northport, Ala., Clara Herrington of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and one brother, Emerson Yow of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Parkway Baptist Church, Clinton MS or the Building Fund of High Pointe Baptist Church, Raymond MS.
