Jonathan C. James died at the state hospital for the insane at Clarinda on Sunday. He was taken there several months ago from the poor farm as he had been pronounced mentally unbalanced, brought on by ill health and old age. The deceased was born in Parke County, Indiana, on July 26, 1830, and came to Boone County in 1853. He settled at the present site of Fraser and ever since has been a resident of the county. Fifty years in Boone County justly ranked him with being one of her oldest resident citizens. Besides an aged and loving helpmate there survives three daughters, Mrs. George Brechtel of this city; Mrs. Emma Saake of Boise city, Idaho; and Mrs. Ella Fisher of Spokane, Washington. The remains reached this city Tuesday evening on No 5 and the funeral held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the First M.E. church, of which denomination he had been a constant member for fifty years. Rev. J.B.Harris officiated and the remains were laid to rest in Linwood cemetery.
