Alice Craven Hodges

Mrs. Alice C. Hodges, 89, of Peoria, Arizona died Wednesday at Baptist Village Nursing Home in Peoria, Arizona after an extended illness. She was born in Hoboken, Georgia to the late James F. Craven and Elizabeth Hickox Craven. She had made Ware County her home for most of her life.

Mrs. Hodges worked as a machine operator for Swisher Cigar Factory in Waycross before her retirement in 1971. She attended Woodard Chapel Church. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph E. "Corky" Craven, David Elroy Craven, James Adrian Craven, three sisters, Ruth C. Gunter, Grace C. Robinson and Margaret Ann Lunsford.

She is survived by a daughter, Catherine Larkins and her husband Wallis, four grandchildren, Jay F. Larkins of San Diego, California, Janet Gaskin and her husband Mitch of Round Rock, Texas, Karen R. Taylor and her husband Jesse of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Sean P. Larkins of Tulsa, Oklahoma, two great grandchildren, Shelby Gaskins of Round Rock, Texas, Dylan Taylor of Virginia Beach, Virginia, a brother, Robert Milton Craven and his wife Lawana of Waycross, two sisters, Maysie Lee of Hoboken, Mary Frances Albury and her husband Bob of Sharpsburg, Georgia, two sisters-in-laws, Myrtice Craven of Tallahassee, Florida, Estelle Green of McClenney, Florida, a brother-in-law, Clyde Lunsford of Sharpsburg, Georgia, and numerous nieces nephews and other relatives.

Her abiding love of her family will keep her memory alive in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, she will be missed.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Sunday at the graveside in High Bluff Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6-8 pm at the Miles Odum Funeral Home.
