Son of H. Bartow & A. Estelle (SIZEMORE) ADERHOLD, Sr.

Married 07 SEP 1952 at Ellerslie, Harris County, Georgia, to June MILLER.

Survived by five adult children and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Henry Bartow (H.B.) Aderhold, Jr., age 90, passed away at his home in Cataula surrounded by his loving family on September 2, 2021. A graveside service will be held on October 16 at 11:00 at the Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Church in Box Springs, Georgia with the Rev. Dr. James Elder officiating. Weather permitting, the family will receive visitors an hour before the service. H.B.'s grandsons, Jay Aderhold, Jared Aderhold, Garrett Ogletree, Mike Turner, Matt Karr, Chris Karr, Brian Cornelison, Jim Witherow, Zach Thomas and Hunter Greene will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

H.B. was born in Columbus on January 13,1931 to Henry Bartow and Estelle Sizemore Aderhold. After his father's untimely death in 1947, H.B. took his place as head of household living in Cataula. Through mutual friends he met June Miller and they were married at Ellerslie Methodist Church on September 7, 1952 and lived in his family home before moving to Columbus in 1962. He went to work for Sherwin Williams Paint Company and thoroughly enjoyed his 44 year career. In 1989 June and H.B. built the home they had planned since marriage overlooking the lake in Cataula and it became the hub for almost every extended family gathering through the present day.

H.B. grew up attending Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Church and after June was unable to walk unassisted, they always watched First Baptist Church on Sunday mornings. H.B. was a 32nd Degree Mason. H.B. always dreamed of farming and planted acres of vegetable gardens every year of his life. He loved his tractors and kept them painted and in good running order. He loved to fish and maintained the lake built by his father in 1947 until the end of his life. He took his family several times each year to Panama City Beach where he fished on the piers or from his boat in the Gulf. He was a voracious reader of all subjects and was never satisfied that he had imparted enough knowledge. He loved woodworking and kept up an impressive shop where he was most known for building over 300 dovetail-joint boxes, although he built plenty of furniture and cabinetry pieces. He was a blacksmith, a qualified electrician and could work on most any engine he owned. He was interested in all history and loved telling family history and stories he remembered from a very early age. He was extremely proud of his career with Sherwin Williams and loved to tell stories and teach about paint products and application. Aside from his family, his biggest interest was probably in guns and knives and he bought, sold, gave away and even built many of both. Around 1970 he co-founded Muscogee Long Rifles, a club shooting only muzzle loading or black powder rifles. The club's firing range was moved to his family's property shortly after and he spent the balance of his years improving that property, cultivating club membership, running their monthly shoots and spent countless days every year preparing for their Turkey Shoot. He was legendary for instructing young and old on shooting technique and more importantly, gun safety. H.B. did not waste anything, least of all, time.

H.B. was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 66 years, June; and his sister, Carolyn Aderhold Tomblin. He is survived by his five children, Randy Aderhold (Lori), Suzanne Morton (Lucius), Bengie Aderhold (Debbie), Polly Lamon (Doug), and Patti Greene (Scott). He is survived by thirteen grandchildren, Jay Aderhold, Jared Aderhold, Betsy Hulderson; Garrett Ogletree (Kristen), Mollie Smith, Sarah Beth Bishop (Justin); Rebecca Toole (Mike Turner), Matthew Karr (Leslie), Christopher Karr (Kelly); Caitlin Cornelison (Brian), Susannah Lamon (Jim Witherow), Madeline Thomas (Zach); and Hunter Greene; fourteen great grandchildren, Joshua and Leah Aderhold; Madison Aderhold; Ashlyn Ogletree, Ben Smith, Seth Bishop; Michael and Jonathan Toole and Sam McCamy; Karlie and Tucker Karr; Hayden Oliver; Piper June Cornelison; Miller Leigh Thomas; and sisters, Joyce Aderhold Cosby and Evelyn Aderhold Belinsky; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Columbus or Columbus Hospice. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, everyone is encouraged to make the best decisions to remain safe. If anyone wishes to attend the service, please remember to remain 6 feet apart from those not in your household and wear personal protective equipment.
