Jake was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He loved his community and supported it both financially and through helpful deeds. Jake retired from AT&T after 27 years of service. He was an entrepreneur; Jake owned and operated Black's Jewelry in Bessemer City.
In addition to his parents, Jake is preceded in death by his son, Joseph Black, daughter, Monica Black and first wife, Betty Black.
Left to cherish Jake's memories are his daughters, Melissa Sorrells and husband, Louis; and Kimberly Black; and grandchildren, Jason Black, Travis and Troy Doss, and Jennifer Benjamin.
