Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Richfield Second ward chapel for George Teancum Bean, 83, who dies at him home here late Friday of ailments incident to age. Mr. Bean was born in Provo, on December 26, 1856, a son of Geo. Washington and Elizabeth Baum Bean. His father acted as a federal judge before Utah was made a state. He spent hs early years working with his father as an interpreter for the Indians and as an escort and bodyguard for Brigham Young. He moved to Richfield when he was 16 years old. He married Celia Evelyn Hunt on February 13, 1878, in the Salt Lake Endowment house. She died in 1910 and he married Ruby Fordham on February 9, 1927, in Salt Lake City. During his lifetime, Mr. Bean has served as city attorney, county attorney, U.S. Marshal, and at the time of his death he was the city justice of the peace. He also fulfilled a mission to the outhern states. Surviving are his widow, two daughters, Mrs. T.L. Holman of Salt Lake, and Mrs. J.D. Herrick of St. Lewis; two sons, Lionel Bean of Los Angeles and James Bean of Richfield; two step children, Mrs. Peter Allen of Bicknell, and Morris Bean of Richfield, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. J.L. Horne, Mrs. Vilate B. Johnson and Willard W. and Jesse F. Bean, all of Salt Lake; Mrs. S.G. Clark, Mrs. Melinda Beal, Mrs. Emily Bell and I.W. Bean of Richfield.
