HAMPTONVILLE - Faye Brooks Arnaud departed this life a lady on Sunday, May 6, 2007. A lady knows the graceful and loving way to say goodbye. "It' s time, my love, and come away with me." Her husband, Sir Leo Arnaud, left this world a decade ago and was waiting patiently to take her hand and together walk into paradise. The family of Faye and Leo surrounded her bedside at home those final hours.

Faye' s family lovingly observed her beautiful face quietly move as each family member said their goodbyes. From around the world, phone calls came from devoted friends, the phone placed near Faye so they could say their heart-breaking farewell. She would go soon but not until she had heard everyone' s voice she loved and who had loved her. When the bonds of love were exchanged and the darkness of this world' s night was replaced by the light of the risen Lord, Lady Faye left to join her Loved Ones. Faye and Leo' s love story is one for the ages.

One of the greatest composers of our time and one of our time' s true beauties will have their love and life presented at her service through the music of Sir Leo. Her funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at Asbury United Methodist Church, of which she was a member, with the Rev. Heather Kilbourne and the Rev. Nathan Kirkpatrick officiating. She will be in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, May 9, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Hospice of Yadkin Valley, P.O. Box 1267, Yadkinville, NC 27055.

Lady Faye, as she was affectionately known, was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Fredrick and Ina Shore Brooks; her husbands, Ralph N. Royall in July 1970 and Sir Leo Arnaud in April 1991; and two brothers, Brant Brooks and Bobby Brooks. Those of her family left to cherish her memory are her beloved and devoted children, Tony G. Royall, of the home; Sonja R. Allen and husband Joe of Hamptonville; three grandchildren, Kamala Abbott and husband Joey; Jody Allen and wife Julie; and Teegee Allen and wife Susan; great-grandchildren Dustin Abbott and wife Shellie; Maggie Bonagura and husband Joey; Solomon Allen and Jordan Underwood; great-great-grandchild Mia Isabella Abbott; sister Freda Casey; and two brothers, Paul Brooks and wife Janette and Lawrence Brooks.

She was a quiet and dignified lady. She had a heart that spoke in abundance. These are the words her heart spoke daily: "A day will come when I must leave you all and thinking of that day brings tears. I promise each of you that in that hour I will bless you. I will ask the Lord to bless you, and when I see him I will bow before him and thank Him for each of you I have loved. In eternity all of my special memories of each of you will go on and on until they build a heavenly path. When it is your time, follow this path which will lead to Leo and me. We will one day be together again in joy. Remember this when your eyes fill with tears. In Him there are no endings for those He loves. Greet each new day as a beginning. Love your loved ones as a beginning; when there is trouble in your lives it is only a beginning promised from the fruits of prayer and thanksgiving. All of this lives quietly in my heart. When I do go look up into the sky and celebrate the joy in Leo' s heavenly music as Leo and I wave farewell until we all meet once again in paradise."
