Jerry Bussey, Jr., was the second of two children born to Jeremiah and the late Thelma Robinson-Bussey, came into this world January 31, 1952, in Abington, PA.
Jerry received his education via the Bensalem Township school system, in Bensalem, PA. He developed into a very competitive athlete in football, baseball and track. His sport of choice was football, from my vantage point (as his sister). The reason was obvious: "it fit his personality like a glove". Jerry had many nicknames over the years: Brother, Brod, Dirty Reds and a few others I cannot mention. A very large part of his life was filled with meeting no strangers, kicking-up his heels and doing his thing THE WAY HE WANTED TO DO IT, motorcycles and all. Jerry was very headstrong, but he could also be very personable and embracing.
Jerry spent a year in Albert Lea, Minnesota attending college on a football scholarship. When he returned home he became employed at 3M's Corporation and remained there for 21 years. During that tenure he played with many baseball teams and established several friends.
From the beginning of his life, our mother, Thelma Bussey raised us in St. Matthews Methodist Church, in Trevose, Pa. After Jerry moved out of the neighborhood, he wondered and several years before he found and embraced his present home, COMMUNITY BAPTIST CHURCH via his best friend DeCosten Struther. My brother spoke of De many times, who was with him through thick and thin; especially the many hospitalizations relating to this diabetes. My brother found peace and spiritual nourishment at Community Baptist Church. He established a profound friendship with his pastor Rev. Joseph R. Wright whom he knew for years. He wrapped himself into the open armed acceptance of his church family and was finally beginning to confront his issues he had been running from for years. He was happy here at his church, and with his church family. I believe his spirit will always remain.
Jerry had friends and family, far and near who will always remember him as a "Happy go lucky". He leaves to mourn his loss: one sister, Lynnda Bussey of Willingboro, NJ; children Chaunsa and Kendra Bussey and their mother Betty Taylor of Burlington, NJ; a niece, Chastity A.M. Plummer and a host of extended family and friends.
