Oscar Jonathan Rohrer, 90, of Petersburg, passed away on August 18, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on July 23, 1931 in Waverly on the family farm to Oscar Allyn and Gertrude Lord Rohrer. Oscar married Sharon Bertagnolli in 2007 and she survives.

Mr. Rohrer is survived by four children: Jonathan (Marsha) Rohrer, Alice (Stan) Fraser, Elizabeth (Marcus) Christensen, Frederick (Pam) Rohrer, nine grandchildren: Matthew, Douglas, Nicholas and Jonathan Fraser, Hanna, Blake and Emily Rohrer, and Andrew and Allyn Christensen, three great-grandchildren: Oscar, Waylon and Connor Fraser, two step-children: Angela (Robert) Halvorson and Christopher (Laura) Bowman and step-grandchildren: Deven and Victoria Halvorson and Tyler, Kylie and Jaylynn Bowman and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Gertrude Rochester, Helen Rohrer, Esther Miller, Rosalee Preckwinkle, Carol Williams and Genevieve Horin.

Oscar attended Hay-Edwards grade school and graduated from Springfield High School in 1949. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean conflict. Oscar graduated from Bradley University in 1954 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed by the State of Illinois Department of Transportation as the Assistant Bureau Chief of the Bureau of Bridge and Structures. Oscar was a member of the Corvette Club, Saturday Night Dance Club, Night Hawks Dance Club and Farmingdale Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed woodworking, farming and spending time with his family.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday August 28, 2021 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street. The family will greet friends from 9:00am until the time of the service. The family is requesting that all present wear a mask during the visitation and the service. A graveside service will be held at 12:00pm Saturday August 28, 2021 at Waverly East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Epilepsy Association of Greater Chicago, 17 North State Street, Chicago, Illinois 60602, Farmingdale Presbyterian Church, 7971 Farmington Cemetery Road, Pleasant Plains, Illinois 62677 or to the Combined Veterans Ceremonial Team, 4 Newland Lane, Jacksonville, Illinois 62650.
