Obituary reads:

Fred Gatz, son of John and Lydia Gatz, was born January 14, 1889, in Harper County, Kansas, and departed this life July 14, 1949, at the age of 60 years and six months.

He moved with his parents to a farm southwest of Alva, Oklahoma in 1893.

In the year of 1912, he was united in marriage to Allie Henricks. To this union two daughter and two sons were born: Clara and Rena; Leroy and Louis.

The family made their home on a farm southwest of Alva until 1944. At that time, Fred in jailing health, they moved to Alva where he resided until his death.

Those left to mourn his loss are: his wife, Mrs. Allie Gatz of the home; Leroy and Louis Gatz; Mrs. Clara Tiberghien, all of Alva; and Mrs. Rena Baxter of Wichita, Kansas, also five grandchildren; four brothers: Charlie of Laverne, California, John of Waynoka, Harry of Alva and Linney of Aline; three sisters: Mrs. Everett Percival and Mrs. Ida Mackey of Alva, and Maudie Hightower of Mesquite, Texas.
