Emma Hartzman

On Jan. 23, 2007, a beloved daughter, sister and mother left our world to join her beloved. Emma Hartzman, 63, passed away in Cañon City. She was born Sept. 8, 1943, in Springfield, Colo., to Robert and Bertha (Sparks) Fike.

Emma attended school in Springfield, Pueblo and then Cañon City. She graduated from Cañon City High School in 1961. After graduation, Emma married her high school sweetheart Stanley Wayne Gron and became a mother. Emma settled in the Pueblo/Colorado Springs area where she went to work for the Colorado State Hospital and American Telephone & Telegraph. In 1971, Emma moved to Chicago and began her career in accounting, working for Abrams & Singer.

On July 21, 1973, Emma married the man whom become her soul mate, Daniel Ira Hartzman. Dan and Emma made a home for their families in the City of Chicago. After a lengthy career in Chicago, Emma moved back to Cañon City in 1993, where she finished her career working for Rich LeDoux.

She is survived by her father, Robert Fike [deceased in May 2014]; mother, Bertha Fike; sons, Robert and Vincent (Diane); daughter, April (Victor) Skrip and grandchildren, Stanley, Andrea, Lance, Daniel, Jessica, Heather, Frank and Corey; sisters Dorwinia Hopkins; Clara (Tex) Luthi; Katherine (Ron) Degler; and many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. Emma also had many special friends too numerous to mention.

Emma enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, working on crafts, but most of all spending time with family and friends. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Her husband, Daniel, preceded her in death in 1993.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at the Living Word Four Square Church with Pastor Dan Limitone officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Colorado Lung Transplant Program c/o Maren Dierercks at the University of Colorado Hospital, 4200 E. Ninth Ave., Box A021, Denver, CO 80262. Arrangements were handled through Holt Family Funeral Home.
