Helen Antapha Robbins Gardner Patrick, 87, of Cowpens, SC died Thursday, May 30, 2002.

A native of Spartanburg County, daughter of the late Edgar Allen Robbins (1876–1949) and Lela Young Robbins (1886–1961); wife of the late Jesse Anderson Patrick (1906–1975); first married to the late Rev. Oscar Wright Gardner (1912–1958).

A retired secretary from Second Presbyterian Church and was a member of Cowpens, First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for more than 30 years.

Survivors include a stepson, Dean Patrick; sister, Maudie Robbins McCraw; granddaughters, Lynn Motts, Patty Simpson, and Gaye Morgan; grandson, Jack Messer, Jr.; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by a daughter, Geraldine Gardner Messer.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Cowpens First Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Randy Gardner; burial in Mt. Olive baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends at the cemetery following the committal service.

Memorials could be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Minneapolis, MN.
