Betty Jane Caprino, age 79 of Marion, passed away Monday, August 9, 2021 at Marion General Hospital.

Betty was born July 27, 1942 in Marion, the daughter of Anthony Donald and May Elizabeth (Bumgartner) Caprino. She was educated in Marion and graduated from Harding High School and continued to the Ohio State University where she graduated with a bachelor degree in Education.

Betty was called to be an educator and did so for over 30 years, impacting the lives of countless students teaching 3rd grade at Marion City Schools and primarily Indian Mound Elementary. She was an avid sports fan and had season tickets to the Ohio State Buckeyes, and has followed them out to the Rose Bowl. She also enjoyed cheering on the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds. Throughout her life she found peace in the hobby of needlepoint. During her summer breaks from school she, along with other educators, traveled abroad and visited such places as Greece, Italy and England. Her sister Gloria and she too traveled all throughout the United States.

She is survived by her devoted sister Gloria Caprino; nieces: Cheri Caprino, Julie (Ryan) Hamilton, and Gretchen (Mark) Niswonger; great nieces and great nephews: Megan Barlow, Mary Barlow, Zach Hamilton, Ben Hamilton, and Nick Hamilton.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Don Caprino and Carol Lieb.

Visitation will be Friday, August 13, 2021 at Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel, 360 East Center St., Marion from 5PM to 7PM; Funeral service will be Saturday at the funeral home at 10AM; burial will be in Marion Cemetery.
