Moore - Georgia "Geo" Beverland, 79, longtime Lost River Valley resident, died April 5, 1988, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls following a lengthy illness.
She was born Sept. 11, 1908, at Carmen to Thomas William and Wilhemia Roske Palmer. She attended schools in Carmen, Leadore and Salmon.
She married Seymour Beverland Oct. 30, 1926, at Salmon. They lived at Moore, Salmon and Boise, moving back to Moore in 1938 where she was living at the time of her death.
She and her husband were engaged in farming and commercial egg production. She worked at the Valley Mercantile in Moore from 1950 until she retired in 1975. He died in 1979.
She was a member of the LDS Church and a charter member of the Lost Rivers Hospital Auxiliary holding every executive office. She belonged to the Royal Neighbor, Lost River Birthday Club and the Farm Bureau. She was named "Outstanding Citizen of the Year" by the Butte County Chamber of Commerce in 1982.
Survivors include two sons, Clyde Beverland of Arco, and Dennis Beverland of Moore; two daughters Mrs. Don (Beth) Ivie of Mackay and Mrs. Gene (Lila) Shaffer of Moore; five brothers, Jim Palmer and Don Palmer, both of Mackay, Ted Palmer of Los Angeles, Calif.; Keith Palmer of Dalles, Ore.; and Kenneth Palmer of Pryor, Okla.; four sisters, Betty Beverland and Clover Brown, both of Moore, Bernice Twitchell of Mackay, and Jeanne Banta of Salmon; 18 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a daughter, a brother and two sisters.
Her funeral will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Moore LDS State Center by Bishop Merlin Waddoups. The family will visit with friends Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Marvel Memorial Chapel in Arco, and at the church Saturday for one hour before services. Burial will be at the Lost River Cemetery at Moore. The family suggests memorial to the Lost Rivers Hospital Auxiliary or the Lost Rivers Ambulance Association.
