Willie "Ted" Burton, 79. of Fayetteville, died Friday evening (February 10, 2006) at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Mr. Burton was a native of Madison County, Alabama, and was the son of the late Hiles and Johnnie Laws Burton. He worked for the Tennessee Military District as a State Director of Visual Aids for R. O. T. C. in Nashville and was retired from Redstone Arsenal. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Burton of Fayetteville; a stepdaughter, Mary Jo Bond and husband, Allen, of Williamson County; two step-grandchildren, Samantha and Jordan; four sisters. Jimmie Grimes of Fayetteville, Clyda Sisk of Fayetteville, Nell Shelton of Petersburg, and Frankie Kraft and husband, Jim, of Fayetteville; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Spencer Thompson officiating. Interment was in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
