PARSONS - Irene J. Vore, 83, of Parsons, formerly of Cedar Vale, died Oct. 12, 1998, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church, Parsons, and at 3 p.m. in Maple City Cemetery. The Rev. Lurena Dunn will officiate. Carson-Wall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established with the church.
Vore was born July 26, 1915, near Cedar Vale, to Charles and Pearl (Pettigrew) Gilkey.
On Aug. 1, 1942, she married Earl V. Vore in Wichita. They lived in Cedar Vale and Wichita before moving to Parsons in 1967.
Vore was a seamstress and made wedding dresses and other clothing for people for many years. She also did alterations for area clothing stores.
Vore was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church quilting group.
Her husband died Oct. 21, 1989.
Survivors include three sons, Earl Vore Jr., Parsons, Bill Vore, Woodlands, Texas, and Roy Vore, Wilmington, Del.; two brothers, Charles Gilkey, Kansas City, Kan., and Wilson Gilkey, Kingsport, Tenn.; a sister, Evelyn Toothaker, Scottsboro, Ala.; seven grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
