Terry was born November 28, 1944 in Galena, KS. His parents were William Elmer and Iva Lillie (Frazier) Sturgis. He had lived in the Galena - Baxter Springs area most of his life.
Terry worked at several jobs including a steel worker at Kaiser Steel and in Oil Fields. He had also owned and operated a Mobile Home business in Casa Grande, AZ, a maintenance man at gymnasiums in Oklahoma City Oklahoma. He last worked as a security guard at The Stockade in Pittsburg, KS.
As a young man, he enjoyed boxing and continued to enjoy watching boxing on TV. He also collected guns and knives.
He was married to Janice M Darnell on October 26, 1982 in Oklahoma City, OK. She survived at the time of his death.
Also surviving are two sons, Edward Lee Sturgis, Baxter Springs, KS and Timothy Sturgis (Nicole) Columbus, KS; one brother Jay Sturgis (Margaret), Joplin; 6 grandchildren, Emily Sturgis and Landon Sturgis and their mother Stephanie August, Sierra Sturgis, Brooklynn Sturgis, Shayla Sturgis, and Arysta Sturgis; and one great-grandson, Leyton Sturgis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one child at birth, and one brother Glenn Sturgis.
Terry was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation. No services are planned at this time.
