NOTT, Walter Joseph, 76, of Richmond, embarked on his final adventure April 3, 2014. A native of Richmond, he was Vice President and Chairman of the Board of Frank H. Nott, Inc. and served the company for 37 years. He was a member of the Richmond Rotary Club and Partner of Diamond Phoenix. He served on the Board at the Nott Foundation. He believed integrity came first in his business and personal life and believed that no deal was a good deal unless it benefited both parties. Everyone was equal in his eyes. He was the Finance Chairman of St. Paul Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid hunter, tracker, marksman, whitewater canoeist, scout leader, competitive sky diver, scuba diver, artist, poet, conservationist and a member of Ducks Unlimited. He was a man of great physical strength and willpower who was affectionately known as "Superman." He was the family patriarch and always stressed the importance of family. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia Burgess Nott; five children, Judith "Tommie" Wall (Andy), Walter J. "George" Nott Jr. (Becky), David West Nott (Kim), William S. Nott (Cathy) and Gabriel W. Nott (Dana); 10 grandchildren, Tre, Meaghan, Stephanie, William, Chrissy, Bailey, Austin, Jack, Brighton and Gavin; brother, Frank H. Nott; sister, Mary Nick Saunders; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and Sherrard Nott; two sisters, Kathleen Handy and Suzanne Gerin; and his brother, Sherrard Nott Jr. There will be a gathering of family and friends 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., where a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Catholic Church. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Paul Catholic Church Restoration Fund, 909 Rennie Ave., Richmond, Va. 23227.
