Raymond "Sy" Swallows, 60 a former employee of the Bennett Wholesale Co. and farm supervisor for Jess Bennett died at 9:20 a.m. Sunday of an apparent heart attack in a Bloomfield café.
Mr. Swallows, a resident of Route 2, was born October 15, 1916 in Bloomfield. On Dec. 22, 1937, he was married to Willa Gibson who died Aug. 8, 1970. He was a lifetime resident of Bloomfield.
He is survived by three sons, Ben Swallows of Dexter, LeRoy Swallows of St. Peters and Ray Swallows of Overland; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia Ponder of St. Ann; one brother, Cecil Swallows of Bloomfield; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Bagby of Flint, Mich. And Mrs. Bess Culbertson of Dexter; and eight grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Chiles-Cooper Funeral Chapel of Bloomfield. The Rev. Roy King will officiate with burial in Walker Cemetery. Visitation is under way.
