Edward William Runnells, 80, of Lindsay passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Palo Alto.

He was born Oct. 16, 1926 in Lindsay to Edward and Leah Runnells. He attended local Lindsay schools and later joined the U.S. Army, where he proudly served his country. After the Army, he returned to the Lindsay area where he worked various farm laborer and handyman jobs.

In 1964, he met and later married Esther Scorgie-Malandrini, also of Lindsay.

He will be fondly remembered as a proud and happy man who did his best to help whoever he could whenever they needed it. Especially his loving friend and wife of 42 years, Esther.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Edward and Leah Runnells; two sisters, Pauline Wilson and Helen Conner; two brothers, Harold and Donald Runnells.

He is survived by his wife, Esther of Lindsay; his step-son Ronald L. Malandrini of North Platte, N.E., one sister Dorothy Smith of Modesto, CA one brother, Albert Runnells of Crestline, CA, four grandchildren, Rachel Malandrini and Gina Montgomery of Porterville, CA, Chris Malandrini and Erica Malandrini-Aden of North Platte, N.E., five great-grandchildren; Brandon, Gabe and Lovely of Porterville, CA, Kaitlyn and Kiley of North Platte, N.E.

Burial will be by cremation and there will be no services. Send all condolences to Esther B. Runnells.
