Funeral services for Mrs. Kathy Bird Benson, age 59, of Plain Dealing, LA, will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Plain Dealing Baptist Church, Plain Dealing, LA, with Bro. Alan Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Plain Dealing Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2021, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing.
Mrs. Benson was born on October 18, 1961 to Howard and Sue Spence-Bird in Lewisville, AR and passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021 in Shreveport, LA. She was a dedicated wife and mother, until she became "Bird" to her beloved grand babies. She was "Big Mama" to Hannah and Kathy-Ann Driskill, and to countless other people in the community. She never met a stranger, anyone who met her felt her love and felt like a life-long friend. Her servant's heart led her to dedicate her last years to her mother's care. Of all the things Mrs. Benson was known for, her family was everything to her, and her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years Mr. Jeff Benson of Plain Dealing, LA; mother, Sue S Bird of Bradley, AR; two daughters, Lauren Benson Boyett and husband Cody of Plain Dealing, LA, Lindsay Benson Totty of Plain Dealing, LA; step-son, Preston Tye and wife, Britney of Texarkana, AR; three brothers, Gary Bird of Ida, LA, Greg Bird of Marshall, TX, Glen Bird of Bradley, AR; three granddaughters, Eastyn Boyett of Plain Dealing, LA, Cali Tye of Texarkana, AR, Elyott Boyett of Plain Dealing, LA; three grandsons, Benson Totty of Plain Dealing, LA, Rich Tye of Texarkana, AR, Hudson Tye of Texarkana, AR; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by her father, Howard O. Bird.
Pallbearers will be Brad Pickler, Corey Bird, Mike Burlison, Brent Totty, Cody Boyett, and Glenn Bandy. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Matt Burlison.
