Services Held for Rachel S. Slaugh at Davis Monday.

DAVIS (Special) -- Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Davis Ward Chapel for Mrs. Rachel Smuin Slaugh who died Saturday after a lingering illness.

The opening selection "Sweet Hour of Prayer," was sung by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Goodrich, John Buist, Flossie Southam and Eunice Simper, accompanied by Mrs. Josie Buist. Walter Simper offered the invocation. Mrs. Ira Chivers sang, "That Wonderful Mother of Mine," accompanied by Mrs. A. M. Goodrich.

George O. Massey was the first speaker followed by a solo by Acel Manwaring. "In The Garden." President Archie Johnson was the first speaker. Samuel Calder read "The Coming of the Savior." Bishop Slaugh offered remarks of apreciation and the closing song was "I Need Thee Every Hour" by Mr. and Mrs. Goodrich, Mr. Buist, Mrs. Southam and Miss Simper. Edward Watkins Jr. offered the benediction.

Those attending the funeral of Mrs. Rachel S. Slaugh from outside points included Mrs. Mary B. Fage of Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Idella Walker and Mrs. Mattie Johnson, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Nellie Kramer of Price and Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Schofield of Roosevelt.

Rachel Cynthia Smuin is the daughter of Emma D. Robinson and David Smuin.

She married Benjamin Croft Slaugh. They had fifteen children. Eight children have died: Cynthia Jane Slaugh, Cora Eliza Slaugh, Mary Ellen Slaugh, Charlie David Slaugh, Benjamin George Slaugh, Hyrum William Slaugh and Emma Ivy Slaugh.
