George Garland (1753-1825) served as Sheriff (1784), Mayor (1788) and MP (1810) of Poole.
Married Amy Lester (1779). Son also called George.
Died in a road accident at Wimborne.
A charitable man, he built and presented to the town, the Almhouses at Hunger Hill.
