Nathaniel Boyd, Jr.

Funeral Services for Mr. Nathaniel Boyd, Jr. of Lancaster will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Beulah Baptist Church in Lively, VA where Reverend Ulysess Turner, Jr. is Pastor. Friend may call at the Berry O. Waddy Funeral Home on Wednesday, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday, 1 hour prior to service.
Nathaniel Boyd, Jr., son of the late Marietta Kelly Boyd and Nathaniel Boyd, Sr. was born in Somers, Virginia on February 5, 1932. Educated in the public schools of Lancaster County, Virginia, Junior, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was baptized and a member of Beulah Baptist Church during his youth.
Junior was a waterman the majority of his life. He worked at Menhaden Fisheries based in Reedville, Virginia and would often travel the waterways and fishing areas of menhaden. He traveled as far North as Delaware and as far South as Louisiana. He also delved into bricklaying with Braden Haynie in Lively, Virginia.
Junior loved animals, collecting baseball cards, white t-shirts, and his brown LTD Ford. The LTD was his pride and joy which he called the "fastest car in Nuttsville and no one could catch him." He always loved spoiling his nieces and nephews, taking them without permission to Mitchell's Store.
On Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Sentara Williamsburg Hospital, Junior followed the path of his parents, and sixteen of his siblings.
Junior leaves cherished memories with his son, Tony Sandridge of Richmond County, Virginia and his two children as well as his siblings: four sisters: Bernice Towles of Merry Point, Virginia; Helen J. Boyd of Litwalton, Virginia, Shirley T. Wood of Litwalton, Virginia and Lillie Boyd of Farnham, Virginia; a brother, Major Boyd (Josephine) of Litwalton; an uncle, Willie Kelly (Ella) of Millenbeck, Virginia; special nephews: Wilbert "Pee Wee" Boyd (Martha), Leroy Boyd and Nelson Boyd as well as a special niece, Geraldine Allen along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Interment services were held at the church cemetery where his pallbearers were nephews and great nephews and his floral bearers were nieces and great nieces.
