First child of Israël Pelletier (born June 27, 1869, St-Pascal, QC) and of Emma Aprile (born Dec. 31, 1869, St-Antonin, QC), who had married at St-Louis-de-Gonzague Church in Nashua on June 17, 1889; Israël was the son of François Pelletier and Sophie Michaud; Emma was the daughter of Théodore Aprile and Victoria Vaillancourt.

Joseph-Napoléon Pelletier was baptized March 19, 1890, at St-Louis-de-Gonzague Church in Nashua; godparents, maternal grandfather Théodore Aprile and paternal grandmother Sophie Michaud.
