William Adolf "Willie" Krause, 73, of Sarasota, FL, died April 17, 1993. He was born on July 30, 1919 in Liverpool, England to Adolf Alfred Petrov Krause and Josephine Pukit Krause. He came to the Sarasota area 59 years ago to join the Uyeno Troupe in the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus. Later, he worked as principal leaper with the Flying Cancellos. He appeared in the movie, "The Greatest Show on Earth," and worked as the stunt double for both Burt Lancaster and Gina Lolllobrigida in the movie, "Trapeze." He later taught use of the flying trapeze for the Sailor Circus. Retiring in 1975 as a Sarasota Postal Carrier, he was a Mason and a volunteer at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He was a US Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Emily Jean "Jeannie" (Davis) Krause; sons, Christoher Alan Krause of Lexington, KY and Timothy William Krause of North Port, FL; sister, Anastasia Krause Cody of West Patterson, NJ; brother Alfred Krause and half-brother, Peter Paulson, both of Sarasota; and three grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Showfolks of Sarasota, P.O. Box 1476, Sarasota, FL 34230.
