Agnes Schwaller, 92, of Carroll, died Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, July 2, 2021, at St. John Paul II Parish – St Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter. Music will be by Jeanne Kerkhoff and Dr. Tyler Schwaller. The St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary will form an honor guard for the Funeral Mass. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 5-7 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Additional visitation will be held from 9-9:45 a.m. on Friday at the church.

Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church and will be directed to Relay for Life and the Rosary Makers.

Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.

The daughter of Bernard and Margaret (Steffes) Halbur, Agnes was born on July 6, 1928, in Halbur, Iowa. She spent her younger years in Halbur and attended St. Augustine School. On January 21, 1948, Agnes married Jerome Schwaller at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur. The couple farmed in the Odebolt, Dedham, and Manning areas until 1968 when they moved to Coon Rapids. Agnes was a devoted homemaker and assisted her husband in various capacities with their dairy, grain, and livestock operation. She also worked at Coast to Coast until they moved to Carroll in 1986.

Agnes crocheted many afghans, prayer shawls, and baby caps for the hospital auxiliary. She was also a wonderful cook; always keeping her family well-fed with delicious meals and desserts.

Over the years she was active in several church parishes; parish ladies guilds, Dedham American Legion Auxiliary, RSVP, Rosary Makers, and St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary where she was volunteer of the year in 2019.

Agnes is survived by her children, Greg (Joan), Eileen, Mike (Donna), Donna (Bill), Mark (Jossie), Steve (Doris), Kathy and special friend, Ron, Jim (Mary), and Mary (Ronnie); 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Edwin (Berniece); her sister, Rita (Harold); her sister-in-law, Eileen; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerome; her daughter, Margaret Owens; her grandson, Travis Schwaller; her sisters, Martha Rohe and Helen Loeffelholz; her brothers, Leander Halbur and Louis Halbur; and her parents-in-law, Henry and Frances Schwaller.
