The Hibberd family changed name to Smith before 1841.
1900 census: She was living in Placer County, Calif., Township 10.

San Jose Evening News, Aug. 16, 1900. "BROTHERHOOD—At Mt. Pleasant, Placer county, August 13, 1900, Mrs. Harriet Brotherhood, a native of England, aged 81 years."

Wilkes-Barre, Penn., Weekly Times, Aug. 25, 1900. "Mrs. Harriet Brotherhood, widow of William Brotherhood, late of this city, died at Mt. Pleasant, Placer county, Cal., Monday, Aug. 13, nearly 81 years. Deceased was born in England on June 9, 1819. She and her family lived in Wilkes-Barre for some time. Her husband died in 1890. In the latter part of 1894, Mrs. Brotherhood and her daughter Lizette removed to California and have resided there since. The daughter and a grandson Alan Brotherhood are the only members of the family left, latter living in Honolulu, H.I."
