Donald Hollis Smith passed away on June 16, 2021. On Monday, June 21, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. visitation will be held at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home. Funeral services will be from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. A military burial will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, AR.

He was born to the former Allie Mae Ratliff and Emmanuel Clement Smith on January 28, 1944 in Montgomery, AL. Donald attended school in the Montgomery area where he still has a great extended family.

Upon completing high school, Donald joined the Navy where he was decorated for his service in the Vietnam War. He subsequently joined the Air Force where he served for many years. He eventually met his wife Nancy while being stationed in Tampa, FL as an Air Force recruiter. They were married for over 47 years.

After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for The Non-Commissioned Officers Association where he advocated for veterans and their families. Don and Nancy ultimately retired to their farm in Beebe where they enjoyed being surrounded by their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Smith is survived by his children Katrina Smith, Saundra Grimes and her husband Mack Grimes, and Donald Smith and his wife Donna Smith; his siblings Freida Hunt, Ruth Hill, Viola Moreau; his grandchildren Jordan Evans, Madalene Benavides, Joseph Montes, Evan Montes, Kaylee Montes, Trip Smith, Dallas Smith, and Dawson Smith; his great grandchildren Harper Howard, Aurora Howard, and Noah Smith. He is also survived by many other close family and friends. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters and by his loving wife, Nancy Loucille Smith.
