Edna Allison

Services are to be held Monday for Mrs. Edna L. Allison, 83, of the Hancock House Apartments in New Cumberland, who died Friday morning at the Weirton Medical Center following a brief illness. A former resident of 567 Virginia Ave., Chester, Mrs. Allison was born Oct. 16, 1898, in Duncan, W. Va., a daughter of Warren Lane and Ellen C. Patterson Lane. At one time, she worked at the Homer Laughlin China Co. in Newell, and later was a liner at the former Taylor, Smith and Taylor China Co. Mrs. Allison was a member of the First Christian Church, the Rebekah Lodge, the Crescent Chapter Order of Eastern Star, and the auxiliaries of American Legion Post 121 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6450, all of Chester. She also was a member of the IBPAW. On Feb. 3, 1917, she was married to Floyd 'Farmer' Allison. He died Feb 28, 1963. Survivors include three sons, Floyd Allison, Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., Jack L. Allison of Upper St. Clair, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Charles B. Allison of Savannah, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Halter of New Cumberland; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The rites are to be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester by the Rev. Richard L. Huggins of the First United Presbyterian Church in New Cumberland. Burial is to be in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel Sunday afternoon and night.
