Almedia was the daughter of Ferril A. and Ava Lee Herring.

Almedia married Dank C. Copeland in Etowah, Alabama in 1889, after gaining special permission for the marriage because she was underage. They settled in the Hill and McLennan Counties of Texas. Their children were Finis, Jasper (Jack), Alfred, Mary Peterson and Rosie Battles.
