Actor. Mauch is widely remembered for his role in the classic film "The Prince and The Pauper" (1937). Born in Peoria, Illinois, Mauch began his career singing with his twin brother, Robert. They were under contract to CBS and NBC Radio in New York with major parts in "Let's Pretend," "March of Time," and others. The twins then moved to Los Angeles with their mother in the 1930s to pursue movie careers. In 1936, Billy was cast as young Anthony Adverse because he resembled the film's star, Fredric March. The following year, Billy and Bobby starred in their best-known film "The Prince and the Pauper," where Billy played the pauper, obtaining an immediate popularity as "The Twins Mauch." He and his brother also appeared in "Penrod and His Twin Brother" and "Penrod's Double Trouble," both in 1938. Their last film together was "I'll Tell the World"(1939). After serving in the Second World War in the United States Air Force in the Philippines, he joined Warner Brothers as a sound editor, creating many audio effects, particularly in "Bullitt" and "Them" (1954). During his long career, Mauch worked on over 300 films and TV series, the last one being "Murder She Wrote."
