Pauline Allison Basham Perry 97, Indianapolis, widow of the late Henry C. Perry, died October 21, 2007, after a lengthy illness. For the last 4 years, she was a resident of St Paul's Hermitage in Beech Grove, Indiana. She was a member for eighty years of the Nazarene Church. She taught Sunday school for forty years at First Church and the last twenty years at South Irvington Nazarene Church. She also attended services at Villa Avenue Baptist, and worked the food bank at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 23 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St. Services will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery along side Henry C. Perry. Born June 7, 1910, Pauline was the last survivor of the six children of John Birdit and Virginia Belle Allison of Shelby County, Kentucky. She moved to Indianapolis in 1925. In the 1930's she sang in gospel groups and worked at Burdsell Paint. During WWII, she opened her home for wives of military service men. For 30 years during the 1950's and into the 1970's, she served as the Avon representative in the Woodside neighborhood. Known as Grandma Perry to hundreds of Sunday school students and neighborhood children, she authored numerous unpublished verses and poems for children. Memorial contributions can be made to the South Irvington Church of the Nazarene, 5402 Brookville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46219 or School 21 Alumni Association co Woodside Methodist Church, 2300 Southeastern Avenue. Pauline was married to the late John T. Basham from 1937 to 1953. Survivors include three sons; Paul Edward Basham (Judy) of Nokomis, Florida; Jonnie Ray Basham (Christy) of Indianapolis and Ronnie Jay Basham (Julie Frances) of Springdale, Ohio; and their four spouses, which she loved as daughters; seven grandchildren: Bradley Basham, Dawn (Chad) Thomas, Doug (Danielle) Basham, Nicole (Todd) Guhl, Natalie (Billy) Montgomery, Nanette (Charles) McCahill and Dana (David) Hutsko, fourteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
