Grover A. Funkhouser, pioneer countian, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, in Ponca City and services were held her Saturday afternoon. Born 10/5/1888 in Terre Haute, Indiana, he moved to Hallet from Terre Haute in 1907. He married Cleo A Moore on 7/17/1910 at Blackburn and has lived in the Blackburn and Skedee communities since. Mrs. Funkhouser passed away on 7/17/1974. He was a guest at a Ponca City nursing home at the time of his passing and was a member of the United Methodist Chruch. He was a farmer-rancher. Survivors include a son and 3 daughters: Alvin Funkhouser of rural Pawnee; Mrs. Goldie Nelson of Pawnee, Mrs. Lena Spears of Blackburn, and Mrs. Allene Callison of Ponca City, plus 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Loyd Funkhouser of Pawnee, and 2 sisters: Mrs. Harvey Sackett of Pawnee and Mrs. Mary Pickett of OKC. Interment was in Highland Cemetery, Pawnee, OK under direction of Poteet Funeral Home.
