Ted was the son of Lewis Alger and Nora Edwards. He married Elva Marie Jones on May 28, 1938, in Spencer, IA. They were the parents of Ruby, Darrell, Darlene, and 2 more childrens.

Funeral services will be today at 10:30 a.m. at Warner Chapel, Spencer, with the Rev. Tom Dettner officiating. Casket Bearers; Dennis Logan, Darin Logan, Stacey Alger, Jeff Alger, David Logan and Doyle Logan. Honorary Casket Bearers; Ron Wurm, Dale Stephas, Tracy Alger, Stanley Tripp, Perry Leslie and Steve Hurst. Burial will be at Dickens Cemetery, Dickens

Edward Charles Alger, the son of Lewis and Nora Mae (Edwards) Alger, was born October 18, 1909, in Logan Township near Dickens. His childhood years were spent on the family farm in Logan Township south of Dickens. He received his education in country schools in Logan Township and later graduated from Ruthven High School in 1929

He married Elva Marie Jones on May 28, 1938, in Spencer. Following their marriage, they farmed in Clay and Palo Alto counties. They moved to Dickens in 1948 where he worked for the Dickens Coop until his retirement in 1972. For many years, he was an active member of the Dickens Volunteer Fire Department. He was commended in 1988 for 39 years of service to the City of Dickens and 28 years on the City Council

Mr. Alger was preceded in death by his wife; two sons, one in infancy; and one daughter.

He is survived by one daughter, Ruby Janell Warren of Spencer; 14 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren
