Actress. A popular British character performer. Born in Kent, Hilda began her career on stage with the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company, and first won widespread fame in the mid-1960s for her roles in television. Braid was best known for her role in the BBC comedy "Citizen Smith" and particularly as Nana Moon in "EastEnders," which she played until 2005. She also appeared in the adaptation of "Oliver Twist" for television in 1985. She died in in Brighton, East Sussex.
