"Brother Daniel Doneen was born at Munster, Ireland, December 25, 1813, and entered the Society in 1841. Although uneducated, he had a superior intelligence and was the efficient supervisor of the mission farm. His manners were affable and all who made his acquaintance gave him their friendship. After a long illness, he died serenely on June 7, 1866, and was buried at St. Marys."
