PIONEERS OF COUNTY ATTEND SERVICES OVER THE REMAINS OF CLARENCE VAN BUREN

In the presence of a representative gathering of the California Pioneer society of Santa Clara county services were held this afternoon at the mortuary chapel of the W. L. Woodrow Undertaking company over the remains of Clarence Van Buren, the well known pioneer of this county, who died at his home near this city Tuesday at the age of 58. The decedent was a native of Ohio and husband of Mary E. Van Buren, father of Mrs. Adeline Allen and Mrs. John Black of San Jose, Mrs. J. E. Roberts of North Fork, Cal., and Mrs. Ernest Barnes of San Francisco.

Note: Clarence's surname is Fister. He began using Van Buren, his mother's maiden name, as early as the 1870 Federal Census. Military records for the Indian War list him as both Clarence V B Fister and Clarence Van-Buren Fister. Birth year estimated from age provided.
