EMANUEL STERNER PASSES AWAY AT HOME OF SON; IN COUNTY SINCE 1864.
Agency, Sept. 26. Speical. - Emanuel Sterner, a pioneer of Wapello county and this community died at the home of son, J. A. Sterner four miles northeast of here Monday evening at 7:15 o'clock. Death followed an illness extending over several years. Mr. Sterner was 87 years of age at the time of death.
Three sons, J. A. and Ezra of Agency and D. W. of Kansas City Survive. The deceased had been a resident of Agency for more than half a century coming here in 1864. He was well known.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Agency M. E. church conducted by Rev. D. M. Cox pastor and Rev. J. C. Kendrick of Ottumwa. Interment will take place in Agency cemetery.
