Obituary Excerpts - Lafayette Journal, Monday morning, July 31, 1916
John D. Biery, of Dayton, died in his home at 8:30 o'clock last night of a complication of diseases at the age of 46 years. He was the son of the late Owen Biery and Suzann Biery. Mr. Biery was born and reared in Dayton. He was a brick mason by trade and had been working on the new library building in Bloomington, Ill. He was taken sick last week. Mr Biery was a member of the Presbyterian Church and of the Dayton lodge of the Knights of Phthians. He was also a member of Lafayette Lodge No. 11 of the Brick Masons' Union. Besides his mother, Mr Biery is survived by seven children, all of whom live at home. They are Tom, Ralph, Miles, Paul, Kenneth, Ethel, and Helen. Mr. Biery married in 1890.
