Retired Financial Secretary
MEMPHIS - Avis Davidson Allen, 87, a retired financial secretary for Christ United Methodist Church, died of heart failure Monday at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood, Miss.
Services are 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Indianola, Miss., with burial in Indianola City Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. today at Card Funeral Home in Indianola.
Mrs. Allen was a Grenada, Miss., native and a former Indianola resident. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Lewis Club and the Peabody Club.
She was the widow of John Turner Allen.
Survivors include: daughter, Elizabeth Ann Thurston of Merritt Island, Fla.; brother, Gaddis Davidson of Gulfport; and six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
