Obituary April, 16, 1921
Thomas Franklin Thornburg, youngest child of Isaac and Mary (Smithson) Thornburg was born in Randolph County, Indiana, October, 18th, 1854, and departed this life on the 16th day of April, 1921, being of age 66 years, 5 months and 29 days.

He leaves to mourn his loss the wife Mattie, daughter Clara, sons Homer and Orville of Dunkirk, Indiana, one sister Angeline Dillie of Windsor, Indiana, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

He spent practically the whole of his life in his native state but for the past six years he had been spending his winters in Florida to which state he departed for last November accompanied by the wife and son Orville, with great expectation of getting some relief from the serious heart affliction which had stricken him last May but this respect and his soul departed from the Southland to his Maker firm in the grace of his mercy and confident of His ever lasting protection and love. He had not been there but a short time until he expressed a wish to be home again with his dear children and friends, no doubt realizing that his earthly career was soon to close, preparations had been made to bring him back as soon as he was able to come but it was not to be so and he had to leave us far from home and children but as near and dear to them as if in their midst.

He was converted in the Christian church at Windsor, Indiana, when in early manhood and tho he may have at times strayed a little afield from his teachings he was anchored at the last to it consoling precepts and belief, and said he felt at perfect peace with his God and Savior.

He was a loyal member of Dunkirk Lodge no. 306 I. O. O. F. having joined this grand order at the age of 21 and later joined the Encampment No. 120 of the Dunkirk Lodge and was also a member in good standing of the Muncie branch of the Brick Layers Union, being a stanch believer in its purpose and principles.
