Joseph McGee Greenhalgh, a resident of this village for about 20 years and of this town for approximately 50 years, died Sunday in the Northern Dutchess Health Center, where he had been a patient a short time. He was 74 years old. Mr. Greenhalgh was born in eastern Dutchess County Aug. 27, 1871, the son of Joseph and Isabelle McGee Greenhalgh. His father was a native of England and his mother came from Scotland. He married Miss Mary E. Nelson, who died two years ago after their 45th wedding anniversary. He was a farmer, working first in this town on the farm of the late Frank Stickle. In later years he operated a dairy business, delivering milk in Rhinebeck. He retired from that activity in 1924 and, after a period with his daughter, came to this village and remained here. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wurtemburg and of the Brotherhood of that church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. H. W. Tschudin of Alden, Pa., near Philadelphia; one son, George of Rhinebeck; four grandchildren, John, Marjorie and James Tschudin and Virginia Greenhalgh, and several nieces and nephews. Prayers were said at the Carroll-Cornelius Home for Services in this village at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, followed by services at 2:30 in St. Paul's Church in Wurtemburg. The Rev. E. J. Himes, pastor, officiated. Interment was in the Wurtemburg Cemetery. Bearers included Jesse Tompkins, Warren H. Closs and Austin S. Frost.
