Obituary
Marion F. Dubbs, 81, passed away at the Good Samaritan Home in Gibbon on March 2, 1962. He was born on May 24, 1880 to W. W. Dubbs and Mary Coy Dubbs. His parents came west from eastern Iowa in a covered wagon making their home in a sod house where he was born in the Cameron Community north of Shelton. Known to everyone as Matt, he learned the barber trade as a young man and practiced at Prosser, Nebraska. He later worked on a ranch in Wyoming. He married Alma Mosser and they farmed near Shelton.
When his wife passed away in 1929 Matt was left to care for seven of their ten children, the youngest of which was only three years old. He saw to it that all of his children except two graduated from Shelton High School. Mr. Dubbs was a director of District #32 for many years and served on the Township board. He was a member of Northfield Evangelical church. He will be remembered for his jolly disposition and trustworthiness by friends and as a kind and loving father by his family. His children are Mary Bott, Neva Hartman, Evelyn Smith, Benton Dubbs, Luetta Codner, Vivian Pope, Vera Hanousek, Waunda Wicht, Charlotte Schroder, and Charles Dubbs.
