William Cedric "Bugsy" Bad Bear went to Other Side of Camp on August 27, 2019 at the Billings Clinic ICU. William was born to William Herman and Georgia A. (Takes Horse) Bad Bear on March 2, 1957 in Crow Agency. William was known by all as Bugsy a nickname he has had since childhood. He was a member of the Whistling Water and a child of the Big Lodge clan. His Indian name Ishkoochidaxxoochish (Breaks Through Enemy Lines) was given to him by Frank Back Bone, Sr. Bugsy was raised in Crow Agency and Dallas, Texas. He attended many schools and graduated high school from Intermountain Indian School Brigham City, Utah. He attended Eastern Montana College in Billings and Chief Dull Knife College in Lame Deer.

He married Serena Brady in 1989 and had two children Peyton and Tiffany and gained a stepson, Derek Knows His Gun. The couple later divorced but remained good friends. He married Wyla Medicine Horse in 2000. The couple had three children Taylor Thunder Iron, Janelle and Kourtney Bad Bear. Wyla's three children Beraiah and Miranda Hugs and Leon Thunder Iron completed the family.

Bugsy was a traditional man and participated in cultural events including hand games, sweat lodge ceremonies and was a sun dancer. Bugsy worked in many security positions including security for the Crow Tribe, the Indian Health Hospital and was also a police officer with the BIA. Early in his life, he worked on the military base at Fresno, California checking ID's. He was given a life time membership to the YMCA after he saved a little boy's life when he was living in Missouri.

He is preceded in death by his father; his grandparents George and Olive Bad Bear, his sisters Pansy and Faith "Pinky" Bad Bear; his uncles Dicky Bad Bear and Marvine Takes Horse; his aunt Marjorie Bad Bear.

He is survived by his mother, Georgia; his sons Peyton Bad Bear, Taylor and Leon Thunder Iron, Beraiah (Candace) Hugs; his daughters Tiffany ( Brett) and Janelle Bad Bear , Miranda (Jeremy) Hugs and Kourtney Thunder Iron; his adopted children Wendy Heart, Cedar (CJ) Little Swallow , Kara Duren and Matt Mandan; his brothers Dee Joseph, Barry and Daniel Bad Bear, Gregory (Michaela) Hess, Nick (Anna) Waller, Chuck (Mary) Trottier, Bob (Terry) McAnally, Mick McAnally, Hector Alverado, JD (Rae Ann) Svedberg, Eugene (Gayle) Yarlott, Al "Champ" (Eunice) Takes Horse and Steven Kern; his sisters Shelly Buffalo Calf, Lorry Little Swallow, Annette Young Bird, and Jeanne (Curt) Eder-Rhodes; his many grandchildren; his aunt Georgianna ( Clayton) Old Elk and his uncles David Bad Bear and Carl Pease. His extended family includes Bad Bear, Birdinground, Hogan, Old Elk, Pretty Weasel, Not Afraid, Shane, Takes the Horse, Williamson, Iron, Hunts the Arrow, Back Bone, Bends, Yellow Mule, Old Crow, Big Day Lion Shows, Costa, Pease, LaForge, Turns Plenty, Bird Hat and Rock Above. Our family is large, and we have many relatives, please accept our apology if we have failed to mention you in our time of grief.

Viewing Thursday, August 29 from 1:00 – 5:00 PM and Friday, August 30 from 9:00 – 1:30 PM at the Bullis Funeral Chapel.
Rosary is Friday, August 30, 2019 at 5:00 PM at the Bullis Funeral Chapel in Hardin, Montana. Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 31 at the St. Dennis Catholic Church at 10:00 in Crow Agency, Montana. Burial to follow at the Crow Agency Cemetery.
