Louis G. Burckhardt, a former Cortlandt resident living in Wappingers Falls, died Tuesday at Cortlandt Health Center. He was 77. Mr. Burckhardt was a retired Communication Technician for NY Telephone Co., in White Plains. He was born in Mt. Vernon on May 17, 1929, to George and Ethel Roos Burckhardt. On October 2, 1954 he married Carole Rising in the Bronx. She died in 1983. Louis served in the US Army during World War II. His daughter said that he was an avid NY Yankee fan, and loved spending time with his granddaughter. He is survived by two daughters, Elaine (Paul) Sinacore, of Montrose, and Diane (Michael) O'Toole of New Jersey; his granddaughter, Carole Louise Sinacore; also two sisters, Janet (Joseph) Hafemann, of Fishkill, and Ethel Marie McMullen, of Long Island. He also has two aunts, Eleanor Nagel, of Croton, and Anna Terwilliger, of Bronxville. His Funeral Mass is Friday at 10AM at St. Columbanus Church. Friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 at EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 170 Kings Ferry Rd. Montrose. Burial is in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorial donations in Louis' name may be made to the charity of choice.
