Douglas "Doug" Sumpter Price, Sr., age 97 of Gretna died Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Heritage Green Assisted Living in Lynchburg.
Born March 13, 1924, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Clyde Powell Price, Sr. and Bessie Gay Price.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Sexton Price; one son, Douglas Sumpter Price, Jr; one grandson, Bryant Douglas Moran; two brothers, Ray Price, and James Price; and two sisters, Sara Graham, and Dot Dalton.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn Wilson Price of Bethlehem, PA; one daughter, Deborah Price Moran of Gretna; one brother, Clyde Powell Price, Jr., and wife, Jean of Gretna; one daughter-in-law, Becky Price of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Haley Johnson and husband, Matthew of Greensboro, NC, and Laura Price and husband, Zachary Seaverns of New York, NY; and one great-grandson, Wyatt Sumpter Johnson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland and Rev. Douglas Gunsalus. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
