Mel was born in New York City, April 3, 1932 and passed away March 12, 2021. His battle with serious medical issues showed his courage in facing life's challenges, still with a smile on his face. Despite the pain. He came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Mel retired as a Master Sargent after serving twenty-one years in the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He also worked as a mailman for the United States Post Office for twenty years.

He is survived by his wife, Ilean "Blondie"; his three children, John (Vickie) DiBella, JoAnn (Sean) Hoffman and Anthony (Melissa) DiBella; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son, Lennie.

Mel was all about family. He was the most giving, loving kind and generous person. We will always respect him in life and in death. He enjoyed dancing with his wife, Blondie, playing cards, collecting coins, working on cars and going to church.

There will be a visitation on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 3-7:00 pm at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B Street, Merced.

A funeral Service will be on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 11:00 am at Stratford Evans. Burial will be private at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
