Boy Accidentally Killed
Eleven-Year-Old Boy Killed By Accidental Discharge of Target Rifle

Sammie, the eleven-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Deering, living three miles below Lodge in this county, was accidentally shot in the back by the discharge of a target rifle in the hands of another young man about ten o'clock Thursday night while a crowd of folks were out shivareeing New Year night. Medical aid was summoned at once. The young man was brought to Memphis Friday morning and an X-ray picture was taken. He was removed to Wilson Sanitarium and the bullet was finally located in the cord. The bullet caused paralysis of the body from the abdomen down. Death came early Monday morning to relieve the little fellow of his suffering.

The remains were conveyed to Newlin for burial which took place Tuesday afternoon. The sorrowing relatives has the heart-felt sympathy of this entire community in the sad loss of this loving boy.
